Configuring IPCop

Now that you have IPCop installed and completed your first reboot you should be sitting at this screen:

Login Screen

You can login if you like, but unless you know Linux, there won't be much you can do. The real work is done though the web GUI (graphical user interface) and though secure shell (ssh).

You should now have the GREEN interface connected to some type of hub or switch along with another PC. With that other PC, open up a web browser and point it to http://192.168.1.1:81 (assuming you used that for the GREEN interface. If you didn't, change it accordingly.) You will get some warning about viewing pages over a secure connection, you can click Yes and accept them. You should now be a page that looks similar to this:

IPCop GUI

To complete the configuration of IPCop, click on System then click on SSH Access. You will be prompted for a username and password. Enter admin for the username and enter the password you set during the install. Next click the check box next to SSH Access to enable it, and click on the Save button.

That's it for configuring! Ready to install the add-on's to get your filtering going? Click next!
